Production Technology

Adding silver in different proportions to calcium-lead alloys ensures making the batteries more adaptable to different weather conditions and increases their resistance to heat while offering long-lasting batteries to the customers.  By help of silver additive alloy, grid’s corrosion is reduced especially at high temperatures which ensures longevity of our batteries.

Considering that majority of the vehicles in our country is old, we also continue manufacturing conventional battery line-up accordingly. We show great efforts to make constant improvement on these products.

At MUTLU BATTERY, in addition to the conventional grid casting method, for both positive and negative grids, we have been using expanded metal (Ex-met) technology in grid production.

Products of all grids series between 35 and 10 Ah of the standard starter batteries intended for the aftermarket are manufactured using this system.  This method consists of pouring the lead alloy in form of a stripe and turning them into stripe shaped grids by cutting and expanding after having them rolled.  The manufactured stripe grid is pasted to render high volumes of homogenous plate production.

In conventional die cast method, the production is non-continuous and carried out one by one so that the production volume drops and the number of production deviations increases due to non-continuous production process.

As of 2011, we engaged continuous-cast (con-cast) production system in order to reduce the problems arising therein. Continuous casting system guarantees low deviation production of homogenous grids.  Negative grids manufactured by using this system are used in batteries with strong inner structure designed for heavy-duty and super heavy-duty operations.

In addition, this particular production technology is being used for manufacturing negative plates of AGM batteries.

The state-of-the-art grid production technologies include the punching system. Lead alloy is poured into large stripes and rolled.  Rolled stripes are gradually punched in the punch machine and transformed to grids. While the punch mould can be designed as desired, grid pattern can also be designed and shaped accordingly.

Therefore, custom-made grid designs which reduce the grid expansion and support active material retention can be manufactured.

Our company has invested in punching system and now manufactures grids for some special battery types using this method.
